Houston police have charged 48-year-old Michael Ellis with murder following a fatal shooting at an apartment complex on Fairway Drive late Tuesday night.
The female victim, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene by officers after they responded to reports of a shooting at South Loop East. A male victim with a gunshot wound was also found and transported to a hospital in stable condition.
The male victim informed police that the shooting occurred at 7358 Fairway Drive. A report of a suspicious person with a weapon matching Ellis’s description soon followed, with a witness stating that her brother had confessed to fatally shooting his girlfriend.
Further investigation revealed Ellis and the deceased woman lived in the same apartment complex. Houston SWAT officers entered the victim’s apartment, where she was found unresponsive. Ellis was apprehended around 3 a.m. and charged with murder in the 184th State District Court.
