Fideli Othman Mohamad, 52, the manager of Seven Star Market in Liberty City, Miami-Dade, was arrested Thursday on charges related to the theft of over $275,000 from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Authorities charged her with first-degree grand theft and fraudulently using identification information.

According to the arrest warrant, Othman Mohamad orchestrated a scheme over six months starting in August 2022. She used forged signatures and fake checks to redirect SNAP payments, which were originally meant for other food markets, into her own bank accounts. These markets included one located in Sunrise.

Investigators detailed that Mohamad used the stolen funds for various personal expenses, including purchases at Macy’s, JCPenney, Capital One, Costco, Sam’s Club, Publix, and Dollar Tree, as well as paying utility bills. She also withdrew tens of thousands of dollars from ATMs.

She was taken into custody and held on a $100,000 bond following her arrest.
