Memphis Police Arrest 9 in “Operation Junkyard Dog”

Over $10K in stolen metal recovered in two-week crackdown

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have recovered more than $10,000 in stolen materials and arrested nine individuals as part of a two-week operation targeting metal theft.

The Memphis Police Department’s Pawn, Scrap, and Seizure Unit conducted “Operation Junkyard Dog” in November to disrupt the illegal sale of stolen copper and other metals to scrap yards and recyclers. Police said these thefts often target critical infrastructure, causing costly damages and service interruptions.

Those arrested include:

Kaila Prince (25): Felony drug warrant

Larry Malone (49): Misdemeanor drug warrant

Rashad Glover (44): Burglary warrant + additional burglary charges

Ashton Roby (20): Possession of controlled substance with intent to sell (marijuana)

Latrice Gray (38): Felony drug warrant

Terrance Wilson (41): Burglary warrant

James Lyons (57): Burglary warrant

Randy Jackson (31): Theft of property $1,000–$2,500

Jesse Perez (36): Aggravated criminal trespass, burglary, theft $10,000–$60,000, vandalism $10,000–$60,000

Memphis police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat metal theft and protect the city’s infrastructure.
