Two suspects, Melyssa Dray, 38, and Tristan Dixon, 27, are facing over 1,500 charges following a high-speed police chase on I-4 in Orange County, Florida. The charges come after investigators discovered stolen sensitive information, including credit card details, inside the car they were driving.
On Tuesday, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding. When Dixon, the driver, failed to pull over, a chase ensued, reaching speeds up to 100 mph. The chase ended when Dixon’s car collided with three other vehicles. Despite attempting to flee on foot, both suspects were apprehended shortly after the crash.
Upon searching the car, authorities found around 200 hotel receipts containing personal information such as names, dates of birth, and credit card details belonging to various victims. Investigators also discovered two books containing handwritten social security numbers, names, and more credit card information.
The evidence led authorities to suspect that one of the suspects may have worked at a hotel, using access to guest credit card information for fraudulent purposes. While investigators could not confirm whether either suspect was employed at a hotel at the time, both have been previously linked to fraud-related crimes. Dixon had been accused of using a fake ID at a property last year, while Dray was charged in 2023 for attempting to use stolen credit cards at a Kissimmee hotel.
Both suspects now face a range of charges, including identity theft, credit card theft, fleeing from police, and hit-and-run. Dray faces 621 criminal counts, and Dixon faces 930, marking this case as a significant investigation into widespread fraud activity.
