WICHITA COUNTY, Texas — Police arrested Melody Lynn Earley, 33, a home health worker from Vernon, after she allegedly stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry from an 83-year-old client.
Earley was arrested Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, and charged with theft over $2,500 but under $30,000, an offense enhanced due to the victim’s elderly status. She remains in the Wichita County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
According to court documents, the victim reported the missing jewelry on May 13, 2025. The elderly woman suspected Earley, who began working for her in January 2025. Authorities said more than $20,000 worth of jewelry was taken.
Investigators confirmed through online records that Earley sold jewelry to the Beverly Gold Exchange on three occasions: March 17, March 31, and May 5, 2025.
The victim identified three pieces of jewelry sold by Earley as hers, and sales documents with Earley’s identification were provided by Beverly Gold Exchange to law enforcement.
The case remains under investigation.
