Lex Peirce Jr. arrested after a police chase and ramming incident in Hawthorn East

by Amelia Crawford

A member of one of Melbourne’s most infamous crime families, Lex Peirce Jr., has been charged after allegedly ramming a police car in the city’s inner-east. Peirce Jr., the nephew of two men charged in connection with the 1988 Walsh Street murders, was arrested at a 7-Eleven in Hawthorn East early yesterday morning.

Police noticed a white BMW with false plates parked outside the 7-Eleven store on Toorak Road around 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers saw Peirce Jr. jump into the car and attempt to flee the scene. However, the car became stuck between a bollard and the store’s front entrance.

As officers parked behind the BMW to prevent its escape, Peirce Jr. allegedly reversed the vehicle and rammed the police car several times. The officers managed to push the BMW forward to prevent any further damage or incidents.

Peirce Jr. was taken into custody at the scene, and authorities are now charging him in connection with the incident.
