Mehboob Saheb, Padmanabha Held for Cattle Theft in Udupi

Police seize cow, calf, and pickup vehicle worth Rs6.06 lakh

In a swift and coordinated operation, the Hiriyadka police apprehended two men for allegedly stealing cattle from Pareek in Atradi village and attempting to transport them illegally to a slaughterhouse. The arrests were made around noon on July 30.

Acting on a tip-off received by PSI (Investigation) Vittal Malvadkar, a police team rushed to the location in Shivagundi and intercepted a pickup vehicle where a cow and a calf were being inhumanely loaded for transport.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

Mehboob Saheb (65) from Moodubettu village, Kaup taluk

Padmanabha (57) from Kukke Subramanya, Sullia taluk, Dakshina Kannada

The police seized the pickup vehicle bearing registration number KA 07 5094, valued at Rs6 lakh, and livestock worth approximately Rs6,000. The accused were reportedly attempting to move the animals for illegal slaughter.

A case has been registered at Hiriyadka Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of SP Hariram Shankar, Additional SP Sudhakar, DySP Prabhu D.T., Circle Inspector Gopikrishna, and PSIs Puneet Kumar B.E. and Vittal Malvadkar, along with the Hiriyadka police team.
