Indore police arrested four individuals, including a medical store operator, on Thursday for their involvement in the illicit trade of Alprazolam tablets. Acting on a tip-off, Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said police seized 1,365 Alprazolam tablets and a scooter used in the crime.
The accused were buying the drugs at lower prices and selling them at rates five to ten times higher to youths in the city. Crime branch officials, after conducting surveillance and gathering intelligence, spotted three suspicious men near Chaitanya Hanuman Temple in Rajkumar vegetable market on a black scooter.
Upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended. Farhan Qureshi (26) of Chandan Nagar, Mohammad Ali (25), and Mohammad Hussain (20), both from Sadar Bazaar, were arrested. They failed to provide legal documentation for the drugs recovered.
Further interrogation led to the arrest of Kritkarya Sharda (28), a medical store operator from Mhow, identified as the key supplier. Sharda procured the Alprazolam tablets at a lower cost and supplied them to Farhan Qureshi, who distributed them at inflated prices through his associates.
Police investigations into the drug trafficking network are ongoing.
