Md Aftab & Manraj Kumar Arrested for Heroin Transport

15.67g heroin seized worth Rs 5 lakh in Rourkela

Rourkela police arrested two men on Friday for allegedly possessing and transporting 15.67 grams of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh. The contraband was recovered during a routine patrol near the Traffic Gate.

The accused have been identified as Md Aftab, 30, and Manraj Kumar Sha, 24, both residents of the Plant Site police station area. Acting on credible information, Sub-Inspector D K Dalai and his team intercepted the duo while they were riding a scooty.

According to B K Pradhan, IIC of Plant Site police station, “The accused were illegally transporting heroin without authorization, intending to sell it in Rourkela.”

Police also seized the scooty used in the crime. “Investigation is ongoing to trace any connections to larger drug networks in the region,” Pradhan added.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and both accused are currently in police custody.
