In a notable drug bust in Virar East, the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate’s Crime Branch Unit 3 apprehended Akash Ajit Jadhav, 30, with over 10 kilograms of cannabis valued at Rs. 3.03 lakh.
Following a tip-off about narcotics activity, Police Inspector Shahuraj Ranavare directed his team to verify and act swiftly. On May 7 evening, Sub-Inspector Suhas Kamble, along with officers and two independent witnesses, set a trap in Chandan Sar, Katkari Pada.
At around 9 pm, Jadhav arrived on a white scooter and was intercepted. A search of his belongings revealed 10.1 kilograms of cannabis. He was taken into custody, and the narcotics were seized in the presence of witnesses.
Jadhav was formally charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and is currently in police custody as legal proceedings continue.
