A 50-year-old man from Maywood, Missouri, was arrested on Tuesday after he was found in possession of stolen copper piping. The theft occurred at a farm near Durham, Missouri, where the suspect, identified as Joey L. Allensworth, allegedly took copper pipes and wire.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from a local farmer who had seen a suspicious truck on his property. After contacting law enforcement, the farmer followed the suspect to a recycling center in West Quincy, where deputies discovered Allensworth in possession of the stolen copper materials.

Further investigation revealed that Allensworth also had methamphetamine in his possession when he was taken into custody. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, stealing, and trespassing in the second degree.

Allensworth remains in custody at the Lewis County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond. Authorities commended the landowner for their vigilance and quick thinking in reporting the suspicious activity.
