Mayiladuthurai police have arrested three men—S Saranraj, R Vijay, and V Vadivelan—in connection with the murder of 34-year-old cook M Mohammed Haliq. The attack occurred on June 24 outside a wedding hall while the victim was conversing with friends. Haliq, a resident of Needur, succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Special police teams cracked the case after reviewing CCTV footage of the attack, which clearly showed the assailants assaulting the victim. Authorities revealed the motive was personal enmity between Saranraj and Haliq.
All three accused were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
