Former coach linked to child sexual abuse content on Kik

by Sophia Bennett

Douglas County, GA – Maverick Austin Beaudreau, a former gym teacher and baseball coach at Praise Christian Academy, has been arrested and charged with 14 counts of sexual exploitation of children. The charges stem from cyber tips linking him to child sexual abuse material uploaded via the Kik messaging app.

On June 24, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received two cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The reports highlighted 20 videos and two images of suspected child sexual abuse material uploaded from two different Kik accounts. Authorities traced the content to a local address using a matching phone number and IP address.

A search warrant was executed at Beaudreau’s residence, where investigators recovered multiple electronic devices. Forensic examination confirmed the presence of the flagged content on one of the devices.

Beaudreau, who had recently resigned from his position at Praise Christian Academy, was arrested and charged under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. 16-12-100(c)). Officials confirmed that there’s no evidence any of the alleged criminal activity took place on school grounds or involved students.

The school issued a statement to parents saying, “This is the first time we’ve heard of any allegations of criminal activity about this former employee and we are not aware that anything criminal took place on school campus.”

A judge has denied Beaudreau’s bond, labeling him a flight risk. The case has been forwarded to Douglas County Superior Court for further proceedings.
