AUBURN, NY — Two Syracuse residents have been convicted in connection to a high-value theft at the Wegmans store in Auburn, according to Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci.
Maurice Gaston, 19, and Jasmine Felton, 32, each pleaded guilty to one count of grand larceny in the fourth degree, a Class E felony, for their roles in an October 2024 incident involving the theft of more than $1,000 in merchandise.
Felton was sentenced in March to six months in jail and five years of probation. Gaston entered his guilty plea on April 29 and is scheduled for sentencing in July, where he faces an indeterminate sentence of one to three years in state prison.
A third suspect, Cameron Ogletree, 26, also of Syracuse, remains at large, and an arrest warrant has been issued for his capture.
“All participants in the theft were swiftly apprehended by the Auburn Police Department,” Antonacci stated. “Our office is committed to prosecuting retail theft offenders aggressively, especially repeat offenders targeting local businesses.”
Antonacci added that retail crime is on the rise across New York State, and her office is working closely with law enforcement to deliver swift justice and protect businesses in Cayuga County.
