GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Matthew Narey, 42, was arrested by the Grand Junction Police Department after allegedly stealing merchandise from Target and possessing suspected stolen credit cards and methamphetamine.
Officers responded to the incident Saturday at approximately 9:40 p.m. and located Narey in a nearby parking lot. A search of his vehicle reportedly uncovered multiple stolen items, burglary tools, a firearm (which he is prohibited from possessing), suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and several stolen credit cards.
Narey was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility and faces the following charges:
Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender
Criminal Possession of Four or More Financial Devices
Four Counts of Identity Theft – Possession with Intent to Use
Unlawful Possession of <4g Controlled Substance Schedule I/II Violation of a Protection Order Possession of Burglary Tools Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Theft – Less than $300 – Shoplifting GJPD stated the incident appears to be isolated, with no ongoing danger to the community, and credited store staff for promptly reporting the crime. The investigation remains ongoing.
