Suspect faces burglary, assault, and firearms charges

Matthew A. Taylor Arrested in Connection to Independence Day Burglary

The Camdenton Police Department, in coordination with the Camden and Laclede County Sheriff’s Offices, has arrested 39-year-old Matthew A. Taylor in connection to a burglary that occurred over the Independence Day weekend.

Sheriff Chris Edgar confirmed Taylor’s arrest on Saturday, stating that the investigation began in the Macks Creek area and that public assistance was first requested on July 3 to help identify the suspect.

Taylor was eventually located with help from the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody without incident.

He now faces several serious charges, including:

Burglary

Felony assault

Unlawful possession of a firearm

Armed criminal action

Taylor is being held without bond at the Camden County Adult Detention Facility as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the assault or the stolen property involved.
