The Crime Branch police have apprehended two absconding suspects, Masru Rabari (25) from Banaskantha, Gujarat, and Prempal Singh Devda (28) from Jalore, Rajasthan, linked to the theft of nearly 4.8 kg of gold worth approximately Rs4.79 crore. The stolen gold belonged to an Ahmedabad-based jeweller and was taken from a car parked near Gangwal bus stand, Indore.
DCP Rajesh Tripathi stated that the accused had been on the run for several weeks and were traced to the border areas between Gujarat and Rajasthan. The theft was reported by Dharmendra Bhai Jayantilal, owner of Ankit Gold Jewellers in Ahmedabad. On July 9, a trusted employee fled with two bags containing gold ornaments valued at ₹4,79,64,300 from a vehicle parked outside Shivani Hotel near Gangwal bus stand.
Following the complaint, Crime Branch police registered a case under Section 316/2 of BNS and launched an extensive investigation. Utilizing technical intelligence, the team tracked the accused to Jalore, where they were found living in a rented accommodation. During a search operation, the police recovered the stolen gold ornaments concealed inside a car seat and arrested both suspects.
