SALEM, Ore. — Mason Becker, 24, of Julia Drive, Salem, was arrested early Saturday morning for motor vehicle theft, Salem Police reported.

Police say Becker went to a relative’s home on Kell Street asking for a ride. When he was told “not now,” he allegedly took a vehicle belonging to a visitor and left the area.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies located Becker following a request to remove him from a home on Old Salem Road in rural Kell. He was arrested on the motor vehicle theft charge after the homeowner chose not to press further charges.

The stolen vehicle was found a short distance away with minor damage. Becker was transported to the Marion County Jail and later released on a notice to appear.
