CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) — A 49-year-old Corning woman, Mary M. Hill, was arrested on February 26 after deputies discovered she had filed false documents with the Steuben County Department of Social Services.

Hill is charged with offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, a class E felony, and petit larceny. Authorities say Hill submitted fraudulent documents between December 2023 and March 2024, resulting in her receiving $737 in assistance she was not eligible for.

Hill was arrested and processed before being released with an appearance ticket to return to the Village of Bath Court at a later date.
