TULSA, Okla. — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place in east Tulsa on Saturday evening, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
Around 5:30 p.m., an officer conducting an unrelated traffic stop near Highway 169 and East 31st Street was flagged down by victims who reported that they had just been robbed at gunpoint.
The victims told police that the suspects brandished firearms, stole cash, and fled the scene in a Nissan. They were able to provide officers with the vehicle’s tag number.
Police responded quickly, saturating the area in search of the suspects. The suspect vehicle was soon spotted driving near East 11th Street and South 129th East Avenue. Officers attempted a traffic stop, and the vehicle eventually pulled over near its registered address.
Police arrested 19-year-old Marvin Macias and 18-year-old Matthew Gonzalez. A search of the vehicle uncovered three semi-automatic pistols, an AK-style pistol, and cash closely matching the amount reported stolen.
The victims later positively identified Macias and Gonzalez as the robbers.
Both men were booked into the Tulsa County Jail on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
