Marquarius Jones Charged After Beloit Shooting

Minor also charged; victim hospitalized

Two people were arrested and one victim was hospitalized following a shooting Saturday night in Beloit, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired just before 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 in the 2400 block of Skyline Drive. Investigators later learned that a victim had gone to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Police said a juvenile suspect is facing charges of attempted first-degree homicide, attempted armed robbery, and recklessly endangering safety. Authorities did not release the minor’s identity.

Marquarius T. Jones, 18, of Beloit, was also arrested and is charged with armed robbery. According to jail records, Jones is being held at the Rock County Jail.

Police reported that both suspects were taken into custody shortly after the incident. No additional details have been released as the investigation continues.

All charges are allegations, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
