SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento County judge has sentenced a 63-year-old man to 160 years in state prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting two children over several years, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
On Dec. 15, 2025, Judge Shauna Franklin sentenced Mark Boatwright after he pleaded guilty on Nov. 13 to numerous felony sex offenses. Prosecutors said Boatwright admitted to multiple counts involving sexual abuse of children under the age of 14, including forcible offenses.
Boatwright also admitted to several sentencing enhancements, including abusing a position of trust, targeting particularly vulnerable victims, and committing crimes that involved planning and sophistication, the DA’s office said.
According to prosecutors, one victim was 5 years old when the abuse began and continued for several years, escalating in severity. A second victim was between 12 and 13 years old when the abuse began. Authorities said Boatwright later attempted to intimidate one victim into remaining silent.
Investigators recovered evidence from Boatwright’s electronic devices, including explicit images and written materials detailing demands made toward the victims, prosecutors said.
The investigation began after one victim came forward as an adult in November 2024. Boatwright attempted to flee during his arrest in Placer County but was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies.
Under California law, Boatwright will be eligible for an Elder Parole hearing after 20 years. With credit for time served, prosecutors estimate eligibility in approximately 19 years.
