Mark Bell Arrested in Connection to 2024 Bolingbrook Murder
WILL COUNTY, Ill. — A second suspect has been arrested in the May 2024 shooting death of Terrell Johnson in Bolingbrook. Authorities announced Tuesday that Mark A. Bell, 29, of Chicago, was taken into custody on April 14 by the Will County Fugitive Warrants Unit.
Bell faces a series of felony charges including three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of home invasion, and multiple attempted robbery and burglary charges. He was booked at the Bolingbrook Police Department and is currently being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
The charges stem from a May 16, 2024, incident at 505 Preston Drive, where Bolingbrook police responded to a reported shooting. There, officers found 38-year-old Terrell Johnson with gunshot wounds. Johnson was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
Bell is the second person arrested in connection to the case. Carla L. Williams, 28, of Atlanta, was taken into custody in Rockford on July 11, 2024, and also charged with first-degree murder.
Investigators have indicated the case involves individuals who knew each other, and the attack does not appear to have been random. A motive has not yet been confirmed.
Bolingbrook Police Chief Mike Rompa praised the Fugitive Warrants Unit and his detectives for their continued dedication to the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
