Mark A. Thomas Arrested in Van Zandt County for Stolen Vehicle, Meth

Wills Point Man Faces Charges After Arrest for Theft, Drugs

by Sophia Bennett

A Wills Point man, Mark A. Thomas, was arrested on March 10 in Van Zandt County after deputies spotted a stolen vehicle he was linked to. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day, and investigators identified Thomas as a person of interest in the case.

Deputies managed to narrow down when Thomas would be at a known location, and shortly thereafter, they saw him driving the stolen vehicle. After a brief pursuit, Thomas was stopped by deputies, removed from the vehicle, and taken into custody for theft. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered suspected methamphetamine.

Further investigation revealed that Thomas was also wanted by State Pardons and Parole for a felony charge related to assault with a deadly weapon.

Thomas is currently being held at the Van Zandt County Detention Center on charges including theft (for the stolen vehicle), possession of a controlled substance, and an outstanding warrant. His bond has been set at $60,000. The investigation is ongoing, and Thomas is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
