
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman wanted in connection with a 2023 murder in Albuquerque has been arrested at Kansas City International Airport, authorities confirmed.
Marisa Chavez, the suspect, was taken into custody by airport police as a wanted fugitive. She is accused of killing a man at his home near Oldtown Albuquerque.
According to court documents, Chavez faces an open count of murder and a charge of conspiracy. She was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 3, and appeared in court the next day for a preliminary hearing. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Missouri.
Chavez will likely face extradition proceedings to return to New Mexico to answer the charges.
