Mariana Delgado Arrested in Laredo Drug Case

Child endangered in vehicle during traffic stop

LAREDO, Tex. — On Wednesday, December 17, around 11:37 p.m., a Laredo police officer stopped a vehicle on the 3300 block of Chacota Street for a traffic violation.

Upon approaching the car, the officer noticed smoke inside and detected a strong odor of marijuana. The driver, 28-year-old Mariana Delgado, admitted to smoking while a 1-year-old child was in the vehicle. Delgado was taken into custody pending further investigation.

A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected narcotics, including a clear plastic bag containing Xanax, a folded dollar bill with a white powdery substance, and a large glass jar with green leafy material. Delgado was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of marijuana (SJF), possession of a controlled substance PG1 (F/3), possession of a controlled substance PG3 (C/A), and endangering a child (F/2).

While being escorted inside, Delgado received an additional charge of resisting arrest, search, or transport (C/A).
