Amsterdam, NY — A woman from Amsterdam was arrested Thursday morning following a six-month-long narcotics investigation.
In the early hours of April 3, the Montgomery County Regional SWAT Team executed a search warrant at 23 Bunn Street, Apartment D, in connection with an ongoing investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics in the City of Amsterdam.
The investigation targeted Maria Core-Santana, 41, of Amsterdam, who was located inside the residence, taken into custody, and transported to the Amsterdam Police Department. During the search of the property, members of the Amsterdam Police Department Detective Bureau, along with New York State Police VGNET, discovered a quantity of narcotics and packaging materials commonly used for the sale and trafficking of drugs.
Authorities confirmed that, during the course of the six-month investigation, Core-Santana had sold a controlled substance to a police source.
Core-Santana has been charged with felony third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
She was processed, arraigned, and released on her own recognizance, with a return court date scheduled.
