Broadstairs, Kent – A 15-year-old girl from Margate has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault following a violent incident at the Londis store on Broadstairs High Street on Wednesday evening (August 20).
According to police, the girl attempted to steal alcohol before assaulting the shop owner, allegedly punching him in the face. His wife was also attacked, with reports stating her hair was pulled out during the confrontation. A third person was reportedly injured in the struggle before the suspect fled the scene.
The entire incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV system.
Kent Police responded to the scene around 7:20 p.m., along with paramedics. Officers continued patrols in the town afterward to prevent further disturbances.
Following investigations, the 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault. She has been released on bail with conditions, pending further enquiries.
In response to recent antisocial behaviour, dispersal orders have been enforced in Broadstairs this week. The most recent order began on Thursday, August 21, granting officers the authority to remove individuals over the age of 10 engaging in disruptive behavior.
Kent Police emphasized that extra patrols remain in place to ensure Thanet stays a safe area for residents and visitors alike.
