BOISE, Idaho — On May 29, 2025, Marcus Villarreal was arrested by Boise Police on charges of grand theft after authorities recovered a significant quantity of stolen and suspected stolen merchandise.

Earlier in May, the Boise Police Department’s Organized Retail Crime Unit (ORC) and Property Crimes Unit teamed up with Amazon’s Loss Prevention team to investigate a large-scale theft involving a third-party driver. Villarreal, employed by a company tasked with picking up merchandise from Amazon facilities and delivering it to the United States Postal Service, was implicated in the scheme.

Evidence shows that between January and May 2025, Villarreal made partial deliveries while removing over 1,000 items valued at more than $86,000 from Amazon distribution center pallets. He reportedly sold many of the stolen goods via social media and online auctions.

On May 29, Boise Police, the Idaho Department of Corrections, and Federal Probation conducted searches of Villarreal’s residence, an additional property, his vehicle, and storage unit. They found hundreds of packages, boxes, and a warehouse pallet. Amazon Loss Prevention investigators assisted in identifying and seizing stolen merchandise.

Following the investigation, Villarreal was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on a grand theft charge.
