Marcus Morris Sr., a 13-year NBA veteran, has been arrested in Florida on a fraud charge, TMZ has learned. According to online booking records, he was taken into custody on Sunday in Broward County.
Authorities released his mugshot shortly after the arrest. Unlike some celebrities, Morris wasn’t smiling for the camera—his face appeared expressionless as he looked straight ahead.
Morris, who played college basketball at the University of Kansas, entered the NBA in 2011 when he was selected 14th overall by the Houston Rockets. Over his career, he had stints with several teams including the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Philadelphia 76ers.
His most recent NBA appearance came during the 2023–2024 season, during which he split time between the Cavaliers and 76ers. Across 832 games, Morris averaged 12 points and 4.4 rebounds.
This isn’t Morris’s first run-in with the law. In 2012, he entered a diversion program related to a battery charge. He was also acquitted in 2017 following an alleged 2015 assault incident involving his brother.
As of now, further details about the fraud charge have not been disclosed. TMZ has reached out to law enforcement officials for comment but has not yet received a response.
