A prolific shoplifter, Marcus Henry, has been jailed after stealing over £1,700 worth of goods from multiple stores across Dudley and Sandwell.
The 33-year-old began his theft spree on 15 April, stealing around £215 of items from a supermarket on Halesowen Street in Rowley Regis. Despite being confronted by a staff member, Henry fled without paying. He later targeted another store in Rowley Village, continuing a string of thefts across Rowley, Halesowen, and Oldbury.
High-quality CCTV footage from various stores captured Henry in the act, allowing police to identify and arrest him on 10 May. He was subsequently charged with 11 counts of theft from shops.
Henry, of Spiral Close, Halesowen, appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on 12 May and was sentenced to 22 weeks in prison.
In addition to his sentence, he was issued a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from entering the Rowley Regis supermarket for three years. Any breach of this order could result in up to five years in prison.
Sergeant Jason Walters, from the South Sandwell Retail Team, highlighted the impact of shoplifting:
“We recognise the impact shop theft has on shop workers, businesses, and the wider community. We remain committed to targeting repeat offenders and protecting those affected.”
Sandwell continues to operate a dedicated retail crime team, working closely with store security, staff, and business owners to ensure public safety and restore confidence in local high streets.
