Ruston man arrested after theft at construction site

by Sophia Bennett

Ruston, LA — Marco D. Jenkins, a 45-year-old Ruston resident, was arrested last week on charges of theft and methamphetamine possession. His arrest followed an investigation into a theft that occurred at a construction site in the 300 block of East Arizona Avenue.

The victim reported that Jenkins, who had initially asked for scrap metal, later returned to the site and took two gas cans. After being confronted by a construction worker, Jenkins returned the cans, but several items were still missing. The victim provided a photograph of the suspect, leading to Jenkins’ identification.

Officers located Jenkins at a residence on East Line Avenue. Upon seeing a patrol car, he attempted to flee into a nearby shed. During his arrest, police found a glass pipe, typically used for smoking methamphetamine, along with a black plastic bag containing suspected meth.

Jenkins was positively identified by the victim and taken into custody. He has been booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on charges of theft, meth possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail has been set at $2,500.

Authorities continue to investigate the case.
