New Braunfels, Texas – A U.S. Army recruiter from New Braunfels has been arrested following allegations that he used his military position to form inappropriate relationships with teenage students he met while recruiting on high school campuses.

Marcel Ian Moreno, 25, was arrested on June 6 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. Authorities say he was taken into custody without incident on an outstanding warrant for sexual performance of a child, a second-degree felony. He was later booked into the Bexar County Jail and has since posted bond.

The New Braunfels Police Department (NBPD), working alongside the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, launched an investigation after receiving reports that Moreno engaged in an intimate relationship with a 17-year-old student he met during a recruiting event at New Braunfels High School.

As the investigation progressed, two additional teen victims were identified. Both had reportedly met Moreno while he was present on other high school campuses in his role as a recruiter.

Police say additional charges may be pending, and detectives believe there could be more victims who have not yet come forward.

Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to contact the New Braunfels Police Department.
