Marbury, Md. – On December 28 at 9:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 5400 block of Mason Springs Road, Marbury. A caller had observed a male under a parked vehicle, cutting something from it.

When police arrived, the suspect had fled, but officers determined the vehicle’s catalytic converter had been removed. While continuing their patrols, officers spotted a vehicle matching the suspect’s description on Hawthorne Road.

A traffic stop was made, and inside the car, officers found two recently cut catalytic converters, along with a tool believed to be used in the theft.

Stanley Jerome Hatton, Jr., 43, of Marbury, was arrested and charged with theft, as well as several traffic violations. He was later released from the detention center on December 29 after posting a $5,000 unsecured bond.
