The Mansarovar police have cracked down on a theft gang involved in stealing mobiles, laptops, and other gadgets, recovering stolen property worth approximately Rs 25 lakh, said DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma on Monday.
The recovered items include 11 laptops, three tablets, 35 mobile phones, earphones, chargers, and two stolen motorcycles.
Following a rise in early morning house thefts, a special team was formed under additional DCP Lalit Sharma and Mansarovar SHO Lakhan Singh Khatana. The police maintained close surveillance on suspects with prior records.
On August 9, Sunil Bhardwaj filed a complaint after two youths entered his house while his family slept and stole two mobiles, a laptop, and Rs 25,000 cash. Examining CCTV footage and using informants, the police identified suspects.
On the night of August 10, the police detained Premveer carrying four stolen mobiles. Subsequently, a suspicious CD Deluxe motorcycle was recovered. Acting on a tip-off, a raid at Hussain Colony near Power House in Sadar police station area seized two mobiles and a laptop. Further searches yielded 10 laptops, three tablets, 29 mobiles, and accessories.
The arrested men, Paramveer and Mahendra Bairwa, are linked to nearly 100 theft cases, according to SHO Kharana.
