In two separate operations, the Phillaur police arrested two individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after recovering heroin and intoxicant tablets. Cases have been registered under Sections 21(A), 22, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
In the first incident, a police team on routine patrol near Sangowal bus stand apprehended Manpreet Singh alias Mannu, a resident of Chak Bahmanian village near Shahkot in Jalandhar district. During the search, officials allegedly recovered 4 grams of heroin from his possession. A formal case was registered under Sections 21(A), 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act. Police are investigating the source and intended supply chain of the contraband.
In another operation, the Goraya police arrested Sunny, a resident of Mahla village near Goraya, during patrol duty in Kahna Dhesian village. He was found carrying 38 loose intoxicant tablets. A case has been registered under Sections 22, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act.
Police officials said the arrests are part of an ongoing campaign to curb drug trafficking and street-level distribution in the region. Further investigation is in progress to determine whether the accused have links to a larger drug network.
