In a startling case, a 34-year-old man was arrested along with his accomplice for committing a Rs8 lakh burglary in Dwarka to buy wedding anniversary gifts for their wives, police said on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar (34) and Ashok Kumar (39).
According to DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh, the burglary took place on the night of March 21, when the duo broke into a shop in Kakrola and escaped with cash amounting to Rs8 lakh. After combing through over 100 CCTV cameras and tracing their movements, police apprehended Manoj from Gurgaon on March 28 and Ashok from Bahadurgarh on March 30.
During interrogation, Manoj Kumar confessed that he was facing financial distress and had planned the heist to buy a mobile phone as a wedding anniversary gift for his wife. His accomplice, Ashok, also cited financial hardship as the reason for his involvement.

Four mobile phones, two of which were purchased using the stolen cash
Both suspects have a criminal history, having been involved in at least 24 cases of burglary, theft, robbery, and snatching. Their arrest has helped resolve 12 pending cases across different Delhi police stations, according to officials.
The investigation is ongoing.
