Targeted job seekers with fake offers, seized in raids

by Ananya Mehta

Delhi – The Delhi Police arrested Manoj (33) on Sunday for allegedly deceiving several unemployed individuals by offering fake job opportunities at Delhi airport.

The arrest was made following a complaint filed on the NCRP portal by a resident of RK Puram, who reported losing Rs20,500 to a fraudster claiming to be an airport recruiter. The accused had promised a job with a monthly salary of Rs35,000 but vanished after receiving the payment.

Manoj primarily targeted job seekers desperate for employment in airport-related positions, charging between Rs20,000 and Rs25,000 from each victim. Many victims, despite losing money, did not come forward initially, fearing stigma or distrust in the legal process.

After thorough raids in areas including Mahipalpur, Rangpuri, Palam, and Bijwasan, police apprehended Manoj. Investigations are ongoing to identify more victims and possible accomplices.
