The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana on Tuesday arrested Manish Kumar, partner and competent person of Arvind Pharma Distributors in Gandhinagar, for selling counterfeit anti-epileptic drugs.

Officials seized fake ‘Levipil 500’ tablets, which were falsely labelled as products of Sun Pharma Laboratories Ltd. The DCA confirmed the drugs were counterfeit and violated multiple provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Following the arrest, Manish Kumar was produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Secunderabad. The court remanded him to judicial custody until July 23, and he is currently lodged in Chanchalguda Jail, according to an official release.

The DCA reiterated its commitment to curbing the menace of counterfeit drugs and urged consumers and pharmacies to be vigilant.
