Manish Kumar, a 25-year-old man from Supaul district , was arrestedruckus and question paper theft during the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th Preliminary Examination held at the Bapu exam centre under Agamkuan police station on December 13.
According to the police, Kumar, who had been residing in Patliputra to prepare for competitive exams, was one of the key suspects in the chaos that ensued during the exam. On the day of the examination, a group of individuals disrupted the process by spreading rumors about a question paper leak and creating a disturbance outside the Kumhrar exam centre. This led to a traffic blockade, attacks on government officials and security personnel, and chaos in the area.
The ruckus forced the authorities to call in police, and a complaint was filed by the magistrate present at the scene. The police later launched an investigation and identified a youth in a pink t-shirt, who was seen waving a bundle of question papers in the air. This individual was later confirmed to be Manish Kumar.
During a raid on Kumar’s flat, police recovered a bundle of 12 BPSC question papers with a broken seal. In addition, his cellphone was seized for further investigation. The police believe that Kumar’s actions may have been influenced by external parties, potentially related to coaching institutes or a larger conspiracy.
Patna City Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Atulesh Jha stated that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts to identify other individuals involved in the disturbance. “Kumar has claimed that he was criticizing the BPSC exam process, but we are thoroughly investigating whether the ruckus was pre-planned or part of a larger plot,” Jha added.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the incident. Authorities have vowed to take strict action against all individuals who played a role in the BPSC paper leak ruckus.
The incident has raised concerns over the security and integrity of exams in Bihar, with authorities promising to tighten measures for future BPSC examinations.
