Manipal Police Arrest Two Business Students in Ganja Bust

Manipal police busted a drug operation, arresting two Business Management students for allegedly supplying and consuming ganja. The accused, Aryan C. Thadani and Aryan Chagappa, are under investigation for drug distribution among students.

On Thursday night, Manipal Police Inspector Mahesh Prasad received a tip-off about ganja sales at a flat in Shivalli village, Udupi taluk. Acting promptly, police raided the location and arrested Aryan C. Thadani. Seized items included ganja worth approximately Rs 60,000, a hookah, a digital scale, and an iPhone valued at Rs 75,000. A case was registered under Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(II)(b) of the NDPS Act at Manipal Police Station.

The second accused, Aryan Chagappa, was apprehended in Mangaluru. Police seized ganja worth Rs 20,000 from his scooter. Both accused were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.

The operation was led by Manipal Police Inspector Mahesh Prasad, under the supervision of Udupi Sub-Division DySP Prabhu D.T., with assistance from Sub-Inspector Akshaykumari S.N. and Manipal Police Station staff.

Udupi district police have intensified their crackdown on ganja consumption over the past 15 days, registering 23 cases and acting against 28 accused. Udupi SP Hariram Shankar reported that 14 cases involved 16 accused at Manipal Police Station alone, with other cases spread across various police stations in the district.

Officials stressed that strict, sustained efforts will continue to curb ganja use and distribution in the region.
