Mangaluru, Karnataka: In a swift and coordinated operation, Mangaluru City Police cracked a major burglary case within 20 hours of its reporting. Two interstate thieves from Assam were arrested in Bengaluru for breaking into three flats at Hat Hill, Lalbagh, and stealing gold ornaments, foreign currency, and a mobile phone. All stolen items were recovered.
City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH stated that the burglary occurred on the night between Sunday and Monday. The burglars entered three flats while the residents were at home, stealing gold worth approximately Rs 20 lakh, Rs 5,000 in cash, AED 3,000, and a mobile phone. Based on a complaint filed by Riaz Rasheed, a case was registered under Sections 331(4) (house trespass) and 305(a) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Senior police officials, including Urva police inspector, a dog squad, and fingerprint experts, inspected the crime scene and launched an intensive investigation. Within 20 hours, the police located and arrested the suspects in Bengaluru during an early-morning operation.

The burglars reportedly jumped over a wall and entered through a small kitchen window. The recovered items included gold ornaments, cash, AED 70,000, and a mobile phone. Both accused were produced before court and are now in police custody for further investigation. Authorities are also probing their involvement in other similar cases.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP (Crime and Traffic) K Ravishankar, with coordination from ACP Central Subdivision Pratap Singh Thorat and PI Shyam Sundar of Urva Police Station, along with supporting staff.
