PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Manfid Duran, 50, of Plumstead Township, has been sentenced to a significant prison term after pleading guilty in two separate criminal cases involving drug trafficking and animal fighting.
On Tuesday, President Judge Raymond F. McHugh sentenced Duran to five to 10 years in state prison for possession with intent to deliver four kilograms of cocaine. In a consecutive sentence, he received an additional 8 to 24 months for running a large-scale cockfighting operation, resulting in a total prison term ranging from 5 years and 8 months to 12 years.
Duran pleaded guilty in March to multiple charges in both cases. In the drug case, he admitted to:
Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance
Possession of a controlled substance
Criminal use of a communication facility
In the animal cruelty case, he pleaded guilty to:
50 counts of animal fighting
54 counts of animal neglect
Authorities said Duran operated an organized cockfighting ring and was also involved in distributing large quantities of cocaine in the region.
He will serve his sentence in a Pennsylvania state correctional facility.
