BRADENTON, Fla. — A teacher at Manatee Elementary School was arrested on Tuesday, charged with possession of child pornography and images depicting sexual activity with an animal, the Manatee County School District announced.
Daniel Armando Munive Viruet, 41, who worked as a resource teacher, was taken into custody by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Jail records show Munive Viruet resides in Wimauma and is currently held without bond at the Hillsborough County Jail.
The school district confirmed Munive Viruet has been placed on administrative leave and had not been on campus since Monday, September 22. He will have no further contact with students during the investigation.
The district emphasized cooperation with law enforcement and stated there is no evidence that students were involved in the case.
In a message to families and staff, the district condemned the alleged actions, calling them contrary to the district’s values. Counselors are available to support students and staff as needed, with student safety remaining the highest priority.
