A Glasgow man has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 19 years for the fatal stabbing of Michael Lincoln at his home in Pollok on 4 June 2024.

William Feely, 53, attacked Mr Lincoln while he was sleeping, stabbing him in the heart. The victim later died in hospital. Also present in the property was Mr Lincoln’s elderly, bedbound father.

The court heard that Feely, angered by a remark from his wife, went to Mr Lincoln’s home armed with a knife. Feely had denied murder but was convicted by a jury.

Prosecutor Chris McKenna highlighted Feely’s “extensive” criminal record, noting multiple previous prison terms, primarily for dishonesty-related offences.

Lady Haldane, presiding over the case, condemned the attack as “horrifying and shameful,” emphasizing that the fatal blow was struck with deliberate force while the victim’s elderly father was nearby. She added that the reasons Feely gave for the attack did not justify the ferocity of his actions.

Feely will serve a minimum of 19 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
