A 24-year-old man has been extradited and charged in connection with the alleged murder of Jamie Goodworth, who was shot in western Sydney earlier this year.
Jamie Goodworth, 32, was fatally shot on February 24 after reportedly attempting an aggravated break-in at a property on Flack Close, Edensor Park. The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m., and Goodworth was found outside Liverpool Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Following the tragic event, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad launched Strike Force Heye to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder. Over the next several months, the investigation led officers to execute search warrants in Bonnyrigg and Leppington, NSW, as well as in Surfers Paradise and Hawthorne, Queensland. During these searches, authorities seized cash, electronics, and documents pertinent to the case.
On October 23, police arrested the 24-year-old man at a Surfers Paradise residence. The suspect appeared at Brisbane Magistrates Court the same day, where he was successfully extradited to Sydney. By 3 p.m. that afternoon, he was escorted to Mascot Police Station, where he was formally charged with murder.
The accused was denied bail and is set to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.
