In a significant drug bust, Rajasthan Police arrested a young man after nearly 3.5 kilograms of MDMA, estimated to be worth around Rs7 crore, was seized from his car in Chittorgarh district on Wednesday.
According to Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police Sudhir Joshi, the arrest took place on the Chittorgarh-Neemuch highway, where police were conducting routine vehicle checks. During the operation, a suspicious vehicle was spotted, and the police signalled it to stop for a routine inspection. However, the driver accelerated and attempted to flee, prompting a high-speed chase.
The car was intercepted, and upon searching the vehicle, the police found 3.42 kilograms of MDMA hidden in two bags under the driver’s seat. The narcotic substance was promptly seized, and the driver, identified as Roshan Lal Vishnoi, was arrested.
A case has been registered at the Sadar Nimbahera Police Station, and further investigations are ongoing. Police officials are working to determine the source of the MDMA, its intended destination, and any connections to larger drug trafficking networks operating in the region.
This arrest is being hailed as a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking in Rajasthan. The seizure of MDMA, a potent synthetic drug, not only highlights the growing issue of narcotics trade in the state but also underscores the vigilance and efficiency of the police in intercepting large quantities of illicit drugs.
