The Sirsa city police arrested a man involved in a fake visa scam worth Rs 24 lakh. The accused, Vipul, is a resident of Bugana village in Hisar district.

The scam came to light when Manik, a resident of Shahpur Begu village and a visa office operator in Sirsa, filed a complaint. Manik reported that Vipul had visited his office and claimed to have personally arranged visas from Delhi. Vipul offered to help Manik by securing visas for others as well.

Between July and October 2023, Vipul allegedly took Rs 51 lakh and various documents from Manik to arrange visas for five individuals, assuring him that the process would be quick. While Vipul did manage to provide some visas, the applicants later discovered that these visas were fake when they arrived at the airport.

According to SP Vikrant Bhushan, when Manik threatened to report the fraud to the police, Vipul returned Rs 27 lakh to Manik and promised to pay the remaining Rs 24 lakh later. However, when Manik demanded the balance payment, Vipul claimed he no longer had any money. A fraud case was filed on November 26, 2024, and Vipul was arrested by the police.
