A man in Greater Noida was arrested after a viral video surfaced showing a dog being dragged while tied to an auto. The video, captured by a passerby, sparked outrage online, with animal lovers demanding action against the owner. The man, Nitin, a resident of Dadha village, was arrested on Sunday by Kasna police.
The video showed the dog being dragged for several meters, which led to widespread condemnation. Noida-based activist Anuradha Mishra emphasized the growing problem of dog cruelty and called for stricter punishments in such cases.
Kasna station in-charge Dharmendra Shukla confirmed that Nitin had been identified from the video and arrested under charges related to animal cruelty. During questioning, Nitin claimed that the dog had fallen out of the auto while he was driving, and he was unaware that it was being dragged.
The dog, which was initially in distress, is now in a stable condition and recovering. Authorities have assured that the animal is being properly cared for.
