Williamsburg County, S.C. – Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting in Kingstree

The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office has arrested David Fulton, 69, of Kingstree, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Fulton has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to Investigator Jalisa Brown. The incident took place on Kindale Park Road in Kingstree, where deputies responded to reports of a shooting.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found a 34-year-old woman, identified as Shanika Dorsey of Kingstree, suffering from a gunshot wound in the yard of a home. Despite the efforts of Williamsburg County Emergency Medical Services, Dorsey was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Ivori Henryhand.

Further investigation revealed that David Fulton and Shanika Dorsey had an altercation prior to the shooting. During the argument, Fulton reportedly fired a handgun, striking Dorsey. The exact motive for the shooting remains undetermined at this time.

Fulton was arrested and taken into custody at the Williamsburg County Detention Center. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather information regarding the circumstances leading up to the altercation and shooting.
